Saturday classes canceled

It seems the combination of extremely inexpensive
Yoga classes in Topeka
coupled with (seemingly) saturated Yoga market
equals very few students in my Yoga classes.
Such is life.

So until further notice, no more Saturday classes.

Happy news!!!
There will be a Sunday class in Rossville at the Community Library. We are thinking after 2pm. The details are being worked out and I will announce as soon as I know more.

Namaste!

Mark your calendars

Please note that this does not happen
for two weeks from this posting.
Thank you.

I will be in Kansas City attending a Yoga workshop
in two weeks.
Doug Keller will be teaching at the
Yoga School of Therapeutics.
For anyone who is interested
the classes are from
Thursday, February, 21st thru Saturday, February, 23rd.
So I won't be teaching either of my classes that week.
No class on Thursday or Saturday.
See underlined for dates of canceled classes.
Thank you!!!!

Be prepared for change

I am currently working with the director at the
Rossville Community Library to provide a weekly Yoga class.
Please check back as details will be provided
once we find out what the community needs.

This is exciting news for me because it would not only mean that would be teaching closer to my home but also that I would get to know my community.
As you may know already, I value a community connection very much.

What does this mean for my current Topeka classes?
Well, I would probably be eliminating one of the two classes I am currently teaching. Since I only have one long term student attending classes, I may stop teaching at the Learning for Life Center when my lease is up in May.

I currently pay rent, drive into town Thursdays and Saturdays. My one regular student usually attends one class per week. As much as I care about this one student, I cannot foresee renewing my contract with LFLC when it expires, with the amount of students I currently have (which is one). I know that teaching Yoga is not a money maker but this is tipped so much in the opposite direction that a change needs to happen and soon.

So if you have wanted to take a class from me at the LFLC, now is the time. If I somehow start to get more regular students, then the equation has changed and I will re-evaluate. Right now, I see no other alternative to the path that I am taking right now.

In other news: I may teach at the Hope Center or the Women's Jail. I have not inquired about it yet. I want to see what is happening with the Rossville library first, then figure out the volunteering aspect of my teaching afterwards. So I won't stop teaching, it is just that who and where I teach may change dramatically.

Get ready, get set......go!

I will have to say that I am excited about the Saturday morning Yoga class that I will be teaching.

Hopefully in the next couple of days I will be able to post when the start date will be.  I am looking at Saturday, September 15th but nothing has been finalized yet.

9:30 - 11:30 am

I was thinking of calling the class "Kunda Yoga" just because there is a tendency to call the class something.  It isn't a new discipline just an approach.  Allowing the Yoga to fit the individual so that the practitioner can learn beyond the classroom.

If you have a moment please read my essay on my other website (link to the left) in which I have written about my thoughts on Kunda Yoga.

What I want to convey is a turning point in my Yoga teaching.  These classes are gifts not only for the student but the teacher as wll since the learning and teaching go both ways.  We all learn, don't we?  My focus as a teacher has always been to enable the student to practice at home through individual and detailed instruction.  By using these tools called Yoga the student is empowered mind, body and spirit healthy.  Now is the time to truly integrate many more of the gifts that Yoga has to offer.

Sounds interesting?  I hope so.  Two hours should give us enough time to allow for questions, individual instruction when needed, and a nice long restorative sequence at the end.

More to come!

New weekly Saturday morning class to start soon!

New Saturday class TBA.

Since the Moving from the Organs workshops and classes didn't seem to spark any interest, I have cancelled the rest of the series.

Please note that I will be teaching a Saturday morning class very soon.  I am thinking that 9:30 am - 11:30 am will be a perfect slot for me.  Any takers?  :-)

My last Monday night class will be September 17th.  Two more opportunities to take a Monday night Yoga class with me this year.  I have animals that are in need my care and cannot get home in enough time to put them up before nightfall since the sun is currently setting earlier.  And go figure, my chickens do not want to be caged at 4 pm!

Please check back for more details on the Saturday morning classes.

FYI:  Also, if no one shows for my Monday, September 10th class....then I may cancel one week early.  (I always encourage my students to check this blog prior to class.)

Have a great rest of your week!

P.S.  Here are some themes for each week.
