Rossville Community Library Announcent

The Rossville Community Library
has temporarily closed their doors
due to the COVID-19 outbreak
as a preventative measure.

There wasn't a posted re-opening
date on their facebook page,
but it is safe to assume that when
the schools reopen in 2 weeks
I am sure the library will be
open as well.

I will miss my students during
this voluntary quarantine.
Vitamin C, frequent hand washing,
turning off the t.v., getting outside
when you can, opening windows on
the warmer days will help with
overall body health and well being.

If there is anything to learn from this
current situation is being proactive is
key. Eat less sugary snacks, walk
more, get enough sleep, and be thankful.

I am happy and grateful to know
you all. See you soon!!

God bless and be well!!

March birthdays!!

In my family March is a BIG
birthday month.

Since my husband's birthday
this year falls on
Thursday, March 12th,
I won't be teaching classes
that day.
 _____________________________________

No classes on
Thursday, March 12th.
____________________________

For those that paid for a full month of
classes in February, you will subtract
one class from your March total
due to a cancellation that I made this month.

March has 4 Thursdays.
No class on March 12th equals
3 classes in March.

Those that paid for classes in
February and want to pay for the
month of March = $20

Everyone else,
 3 classes x $10 = $30
Drop-ins = $15

Potential issues with weather

While I do post cancellations on
this website and also text my regular
students if I cannot make it to teach,
sometimes technologies do not
work so well out "in the boonies"
where we live.

If the weather seems dangerous
but you haven't heard from me
I would still stay home to be safe.
My text may come through later
that evening, or even the next day.

Currently the roads are really dangerous
here on our country roads. My husband's
truck slipped into a ditch yesterday
morning as he was driving to work.
Now that truck needs to be towed
in town to get it serviced.

Please be safe. I will assess the
situation as early as I can to determine
if we will be having classes this week.

 Be safe everyone!

No class tomorrow

No class will be held
at the library
on Thursday, January 2nd.

_____________________________

If you are planning on attending
class on Thursday, January 9th,
then you will either pay for
4 weeks
@ $10.00 per class
which equals $40.00
or
$15.00 drop-in fee.

 ___________________________________

If I happen to cancel a class,
we would make up that lost class
the next month and deduct it
from what is owed at the
beginning of the
following month.

____________________________________

Starting in January 2020, all
new students will be given a
hand-out of the foundational work
we do every week. If you have back,
knee, or hip pain, this foundational
work is exactly what you need
to move in the direction of
stability and strength.

Be prepared to be challenged in
a good way. If you cannot do the
harder poses in class due to
tightness or a previous injury, there
is always a way to modify the pose.

My job is to teach you how to move
in your body in a healthy and safe
manner. Questions are always welcome.

FaceBook Break

She may be hard to see
in this dark photo
but this is our newest addition to the farm.
Cats really do understand
the power of the nap!

If you are connected to my
"Yoga with Cat McMahon"
facebook page,
you may have noticed that I am
no longer on that social media platform.
I am taking the summer off from that
media, and I have been
consciously watching where I spend my
time with regards to the internets.

I am going to at least take the summer off
and then reassess my relationship to
social medias. There is so much to do in
this short life that we are blessed to have,
and I want to make the most of it.

All my classes are continuing
throughout the summmer....
so I hope to see you on the mat!!

Love,
~ Cat

Ayurveda, Yoga's sister science

Happy Mother's Day
weekend, everybody!!!
I hope you are all able to enjoy the last few days,
which have been gloriously lovely.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I am putting together some information about the body constitutions,
also known as the "Doshas." I will be bringing in (hopefully next week) a Dosha Test for everyone to take plus a foods list which will suggest foods that are good for your Dosha.

Yay!!! I love this nerdy stuff. You will learn a lot in a short time and I hope it is fun and informative for you.

See you on the mat.

Never a dull moment!!

Because I will be attending a "Bee Doctor" workshop
in Boulder next weekend,
I won't be teaching class
on Thursday, May 12th
at the Rossville Community Library.

Since everyone (including myself)
usually has a busy summer,
I am not going to be teaching Yoga
at the library this summer.

The last Yoga class
until September 1st, 2016
at the Rossville Community Library
will be on
Thursday, May 19th.

So one more Yoga class in two weeks
at the RCL,
and then
I will see you again on Thursday, September 1st.

New Yoga Classes in 2016!!!!

Classes start at the
Rossville Community Library this
Thursday, January 7th.
(No class on Thursday, January 14th.)

Classes held at the Rock Building
will start on Tuesday, January 19th.

Classes at the Prairie Band Potawatomi
Elders' Center
will start on Monday, January 25th.

I will be attending a Yoga anatomy workshop the second week in January, thus the later start dates for most of my classes. Thank you for your patience. My teacher, Judith H. Lasater, has not taught the Yoga and Anatomy workshop since 2011 (when I first took this workshop with Judith) and I am excited about this opportunity to take it again.

Please check back often, since there will be many opportunities this year to attend new and fun classes.

I hope to see you on the mat.

Namaste`

New Workshops Coming Up in the New Year!

I am excited to announce
a new Foundations Workshop
that will be focusing on your feet.

The first class will be taught at the
Rossville Community Library.

After that, I will be pursuing other locations to teach this important and informative class.

This is a class about foot health with the most up-to-date bio-mechanical info on what your feet need in terms that anyone can learn and then incorporate into daily life. You will learn easy exercises, foot anatomy, and suggestions on what footwear will benefit your feet the most.

Check back in January for more details!

Strong foundations

Last night's class was a wonderful surprise. We had 11 students total, which is a record for that location. I definitely will bring more props from home for future classes just in case everyone returns for more fun.

I did have one student inquire about an advanced class I might be teaching. I hope I addressed that student's questions fully. After a little reflection, this is what I would like to say in general about my classes.

If you attend on a regular basis, you will not only receive individual attention to what you need to work on in your Yoga practice,
you will also receive instructions on how to improve your flexibility, strength, and stamina while learning about anatomy and proper alignment.

What is wonderful about working with a teacher on a regular basis is that you can see the teacher's progression within the asana to help the student receive more profound instructions.
I know this to be a fact for me, personally.

I attend as many Yoga workshops as I can with senior level teachers Judith Lasater and Doug Keller. Videos can be helpful but nothing compares to a direct connection to a teacher who can give you immediate feedback. What those teachers (and many others in the past) have given to me is priceless.

Again, I really enjoyed the energy of last night's class.
Thank you to all who attended.

I look forward to seeing you on the mat.

Namaste`

Thursday class REVISITED

I am attempting to recruit Yoga students for a second Yoga class on
Thursdays from 6:30 - 8 pm.

If you are interested in a class, I need 4 students minimum.
Please either email me at
ardhachandrasana@yahoo.com
 or
let Adrienne at the Rossville Community Library know that you would like to attend a class (and leave your name and number so you will be contacted).

I have one lovely student who would like to take a Yoga class twice a week.

In other news, the Sunday Yoga class has been filling up lately. Not completely full.....not yet. If you are interested in a Yoga class, now would be a great time to start. The Sunday class has many new-to-Yoga students. We will be focusing a lot on form so that you will feel comfortable practicing at home with confidence. The Rossville library also has some wonderful Yoga books that you can check out to help you along the way.

As always, email me with any further questions.
