Progress!!

It's hard for me to express how excited I am that I FINALLY got my Rode GO wireless microphone to work!! Sure it was just two days of frustration and LOTS of research and I was thinking that the microphone was broke. And just as I was thinking this was a hopeless cause, IT WORKED!!!

My computer is a Macbook Pro 2009. She works great except I was afraid that this technology was too new. After 3 different adapters that I purchased separately plus the one that came with the microphone, we seem to be in business. I did another test just moments ago on Zoom and everything checks out GREAT!! (Can you tell I am excited??????)

As I have stated in the past, I plan on teaching some free short classes to get used to the Zoom platform.

Thanks for your patience. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Zoom classes still coming!!

Thank you all for your patience! I am working with the on-line technology and have ordered more adapters as is the way with life. I have a microphone, I just need my computer to connect properly to it. (Of course, the adapter given neither works with my camera nor my computer. Oh well.)

I am told that I will receive my order by December 14th. If all goes well, I will teach several free classes so we can all get used to the new classes together.

Again, thank you for your patience. God bless, be well, and happy holidays!

Zoom classes coming soon!

Just a quick announcement to let everyone
know that I will be offering
on-line classes
after Thanksgiving.

Since this will be a new
adventure for me, in more ways than one,
I will be teaching a few 30 - 45 minute
free classes so I can familiarize
myself with the platform.

Please email me at:
yoginiofoz@gmail.com
if you are interested.
Thank you!

Why the Name Change?

The antidote to stagnation is innovation.

                             ~ Robin S. Sharma

 ______________________________________________________

While I am quite thankful for my years of learning and teaching the in the Iyengar yoga tradition, my journey from teaching one discipline exclusively to what I teach today has been fruitful for me in a variety of ways. There were far too many questions that needed answering and over the years I have enjoyed researching and learning from teachers that approach similar questions from different perspectives, bodies, and scientific knowledge. There is not one body, one problem, nor just one answer.

There are many reasons for what I teach today and I will not be expressing that complex answer fully here and now. I do want to officially state that I am re-branding myself on purpose. These changes have occurred over much time and deliberation. I will go into more detail over the next year, and will post those essays on my other blog. (I typically use this blog for class announcements, cancellations, and general information.)

Here is a link to my other blog with more detailed information on what I teach today: What Do I Teach Essay

As I get older I find it very important for my thoughts, my actions, and my words to be aligned. Sometimes I carry a question with me for several years, looking at it from different perspectives before I carry out the answer in my own life. Change takes time.

My classes are about teaching healthy range-of-motion in the joints, alignment cues, and how to strengthen the muscles efficiently. It doesn't look like a "traditional" yoga class because it isn't. (I will discuss more in detail later.)

We humans are complex creatures. I hope you too look at subjects from different perspectives. Change is the only constant. It's what we do with that change that matters.

Update on one class

My noon - 1 pm class
at the PBPN Health Center
will be starting again this Thursday.

The Tuesday evening class is
still on hold. We are just waiting
for the approval from the medical
staff.

With regards to the
Rossville Community Library,
I currently do not know if or when
I can start up the Thursday
evening classes
in the future.

I know everyone is waiting for
directives from the governor.
I will update this blog when I
hear more.

Be well and God bless!!

Contact info and proposal

I am all about choices.
I have done the research
and am comfortable
with teaching classes
again in the near future.

That said, I have not heard
any updates from either the library
nor the tribe for quite some time
on how everything will proceed
in the coming months.

I do have a teaching space at the farm
where I live. It is a small yoga and
fiber arts building that has
a yoga rope wall for two plus
LOTS of props. A few of you have
even been out here, so you
know what the roads can be like.

In the past, I have also taught workshops
and classes at people's homes
and offices, so that could be another
option for a one-time or weekly
class.

If you are interested in anything
listed above, please feel
free to email me.  Suggestions
are also welcome.

yoginiofoz@gmail.com

I would love to continue to teach
because I feel very strongly about
what I teach and the need for these
exercises and stretches to be
taught on a regular basis.

Also, if any of my regular students have
a suggestion on an alternative place
to teach I would love to hear from you.

Be well and God bless!

Rossville Community Library Announcent

The Rossville Community Library
has temporarily closed their doors
due to the COVID-19 outbreak
as a preventative measure.

There wasn't a posted re-opening
date on their facebook page,
but it is safe to assume that when
the schools reopen in 2 weeks
I am sure the library will be
open as well.

I will miss my students during
this voluntary quarantine.
Vitamin C, frequent hand washing,
turning off the t.v., getting outside
when you can, opening windows on
the warmer days will help with
overall body health and well being.

If there is anything to learn from this
current situation is being proactive is
key. Eat less sugary snacks, walk
more, get enough sleep, and be thankful.

I am happy and grateful to know
you all. See you soon!!

God bless and be well!!

No Diabetes Prevention Classes for 2 Weeks

I was just notified that all
classes, including yoga, have been
cancelled at the tribe for the
next two weeks.

The next classes I will be teaching
at the PBPN Health Center
will be
Tuesday, March 31st,
from 4:45 pm to 6:15 pm
and
Thursday, April 2nd,
from 12 noon to 1 pm.

Take care, be well, wash your hands
often, and see you soon!!

March birthdays!!

In my family March is a BIG
birthday month.

Since my husband's birthday
this year falls on
Thursday, March 12th,
I won't be teaching classes
that day.
 _____________________________________

No classes on
Thursday, March 12th.
____________________________

For those that paid for a full month of
classes in February, you will subtract
one class from your March total
due to a cancellation that I made this month.

March has 4 Thursdays.
No class on March 12th equals
3 classes in March.

Those that paid for classes in
February and want to pay for the
month of March = $20

Everyone else,
 3 classes x $10 = $30
Drop-ins = $15

Potential issues with weather

While I do post cancellations on
this website and also text my regular
students if I cannot make it to teach,
sometimes technologies do not
work so well out "in the boonies"
where we live.

If the weather seems dangerous
but you haven't heard from me
I would still stay home to be safe.
My text may come through later
that evening, or even the next day.

Currently the roads are really dangerous
here on our country roads. My husband's
truck slipped into a ditch yesterday
morning as he was driving to work.
Now that truck needs to be towed
in town to get it serviced.

Please be safe. I will assess the
situation as early as I can to determine
if we will be having classes this week.

 Be safe everyone!

NEWEST UPDATE for the Silver Lake Library Workshop

NEWEST Update:
 We have made the minimum!!
Exciting news, for sure.
If you are considering this class,
please try to sign-up soon
so that I have a good idea
on how many props to bring.
Drop-ins are welcome,
but do notice the fee is just
a little higher the day of the class.

We are going to have a lot of fun and learn
many helpful stretches and
strengtheners in class. Why not bring a friend and have twice the fun?

I hope to see you soon!!

No class tomorrow

No class will be held
at the library
on Thursday, January 2nd.

_____________________________

If you are planning on attending
class on Thursday, January 9th,
then you will either pay for
4 weeks
@ $10.00 per class
which equals $40.00
or
$15.00 drop-in fee.

 ___________________________________

If I happen to cancel a class,
we would make up that lost class
the next month and deduct it
from what is owed at the
beginning of the
following month.

____________________________________

Starting in January 2020, all
new students will be given a
hand-out of the foundational work
we do every week. If you have back,
knee, or hip pain, this foundational
work is exactly what you need
to move in the direction of
stability and strength.

Be prepared to be challenged in
a good way. If you cannot do the
harder poses in class due to
tightness or a previous injury, there
is always a way to modify the pose.

My job is to teach you how to move
in your body in a healthy and safe
manner. Questions are always welcome.
