Announcements & Housekeeping

I have been a small business owner,
or really a "private contractor,"
for 20 years now. I have taught at
yoga centers, schools, libraries,
friend's homes, art centers, and
extra rooms at the court house
to judges and clerks.

As with any small business, it is a struggle
to make things affordable but also
priced so that I can actually make
enough to pay my bills.

Since I have moved just outside Delia
a little over 8 years ago, I have not been
able to "break even." While I would like
to continue to teaching I need to start
figuring out how to pay for the workshops
that I take every year to keep up my studies
and to stay registered with Yoga Alliance (which
are two annual expenses: insurance and
registering).

If you have made it this far, thank you!

I just feel the need to explain why I will
need to raise my prices starting
January 2020. If this increase is too much of a
financial burden for you, I understand.
I am in a similar situation with regards to paying
for teacher trainings towards my continuing
education credits. Essentially, I want to continue
to teach and I want to pay my bills. With that said,

I will be raising my
class prices
to
$10 per class
if paid at the
beginning of the month
or
$15 for a drop-in
starting
January 2020.

Do know that I love teaching very much but it
has been brought to my attention that I may
not be able to write-off my expenses as
a business owner for much longer.
The government might see what
I do as more of a "hobby"
than an actual business since I have been
losing money for at least 8 years.

I am going to continue to provide the best
possible classes each week while trying
to get the word out
about my classes, and see if there
is a need or want for what I teach to more
people.

I do believe what I teach is quite
valuable and I use the techniques I teach
in class every single day to keep my body
aligned and well. I would
like to think that my regular students
come back for the very same reasons.

Our health should be one of our
highest priorities. We cannot be
of service to our communities, our
families, and the general populace
if we are not well.

New Year's Day class announcement!!

New Year's Day
will be here before you know it!

I will be teaching my annual class
 again this upcoming
New Year's Day at the RCL from
10 am to 12 noon.

We will have a different
focus this year.

The class is called:

Work Hard,
Rest Easy

The first hour will be dedicated
to a more vigorous stretching
and strengthening focus, while
the second half will be the
delicious restoratives that our body
craves afterwards.

It's easy for me to say that this is a
class you won't want to miss!!

$15.00 pre-paid
$20.00 drop-in that morning

Questions: yoginiofoz@gmail.com

P.S. I will be increasing my rates in January
to help with paying for my on-going training.
If you have been considering dropping-in
to a class, now would be the time to see if
my class is something that works for you before
the price increase. Just a thought.

Hi Everyone,

For those that are new to this blog,
welcome!

Please check this blog for cancellations,
especially for those driving in from
Maple Hill.

I try to announce cancellations
about an hour before class.

As always, if there is severe weather
please stay home. I have country
internet which means that it might not
work during a severe storm with
a strong downpour of rain. If you
think you should stay home, please do.
Safety first!!

If you have any questions,
please feel free to email me:

New class in Maple Hill starting soon!

We are currently working out the details,
and yet I still wanted to announce that
I will be teaching a Monday night
class in Maple Hill at the
Maple Hill Community
 Congregational Church.

My request is that I get 5 students
pre-enrolled for a 4-week session.
Each class is $7.00, so that would be
$28.00 by the first class.

I will be checking out the space this Friday,
so I will update this blog with start date
and times hopefully by this weekend.
This will be a 1.5 hour class and is for all levels.

FYI: I typically do not teach a "traditional" yoga class
anymore due to the fact that some of my students
needed a gentler and more refined approach,
and honestly, I needed it as well.

Essentially, I take my over two decades worth of experience and knowledge (taken from attending senior level yoga classes) and have combined it with the teachings of biomechanist Katy Bowman, as well as Jill Miller, who is a yoga teacher and yoga therapy ball instructor. That equals lots of fun and challenges for all ages and levels.

What I teach in every class is how to move better
in a way that is safe and healthy.

Please feel free to email me
if you have any questions:
yoginiofoz@gmail.com

I hope to see you on the mat!

In an attempt to not confuse....

The price of a single
yoga class at the
Rossville Community Library
is $7.00,
as of January 1st, 2019.

Please disregard
what is listed on their website
(if it still states the old $5 fee).

Please read my previous posts
below this one
for the monthly fee
and why there is a change
in price.

It looks like
the library has recently
updated their
website with a fresh,
new look.
I am sure the updated price listed
above will happen soon,
so thank you
for your patience during
this transition.

Be well. Take care.
See you on the mat.

REPOSTING: Changes in 2019

I have jokingly mentioned a few times to my husband that it might be time for me to retire from teaching yoga. After teaching for almost 20 years, I still do believe that what I teach in my classes is relevant in today's fast paced world.

(Please check this link if you want to read my essay
on what I teach in my classes.)

That said, I am changing the way students pay for classes.
I am told by my tax preparer that we may not be able to claim what little I make as income for much longer. The govs may see what I do as more of a "hobby" than a job, since I do not really make much money. (I guess I would be referred to as a liability.)

So....in an attempt to possibly break even in the near future, here is my new payment method. Nothing too complex and I think most, if not all, will be okay with this change.

There are two choices.

The first is a simple $7.00 drop-in fee.

The second is a monthly fee paid
the first Thursday of every month.
It's just $5.00 x number of Thursdays
in that particular month.

Example:
January 2019 = $25.00
or
5 Thursdays x $5.00 = $25.00

Even if you miss a class once a month, it's still the best bargain EVER.
Really. Do a search on how much yoga studios charge for attending a class: At least $12 - $15 per class. (And don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with what they charge. Studios aren't money makers, either.)

Plus, I have been teaching a long time and attend several 5-day workshops per year, and I study lots of health related material almost daily. It's a lifestyle for me. I will continue this lifestyle regardless if I teach or not. It's that important to me.

Anyway, I have been thinking about this for some time now. I am happy to teach, I just want to make it a little more sustainable for me.

Take care. Be well.
